Day 23

87 miles.  Farmington to Eminence.  Started early again and had cool overcast weather with some rain.  I rolled through the first 60 miles by noon.  The sun came out and the Ozarks started to inflict some real pain.   I arrived in Eminence at 3:30.  I am staying at the Maple Tree Inn.  It's a neat old house and the price is great.  There are three other east bound cyclists staying here as well.  With 8.5 hours of riding I did not have a lot of time for pictures.

  2. Tom -- Sorry to be away from the action for a few days.

I am about 30 feet from the Appalachian Trail, sitting in the Damascus VA public library. Just finished a 4-day hike with my lovely wife. It ain't a TransAm, of course, but it's pretty darn good, and it will have to do for us working people. We have just about eat up all the milkshakes and french fries in this town. Moving on tomorrow (after a stop at the laundry-mat).

  3. You know things are good if a laundry mat is involved.
